As a non-scientist I have such a hard time evaluating the claims and counterclaims. Am I the only one? Fyi, not big on vaxxes, so don't get me wrong. But it's so hard for the layman to get a grip on all this. The COVID vax injured me and woke me up. Still trying to learn.
It takes a while and the data studies I believe are intentionally confusing . They don’t want people of normal intelligence who aren’t educated in the sciences to know the truth. I learned from Dr. Bean as he breaks down studies and information for free. Many you tube videos. Del with The High Wire also does a great job getting experts on to explain in lay terms what the studies mean. The flccc.net has weekly zoom anyone can attend and learn their research. There are many good resources. It just takes time.
I listen to a lot of scientists and am capable of reading scientific papers. But without a sound technical understanding of virology and molecular biology and biochemistry and a few other fields, I'll never really understand.
Nor will 99.99% of the public and most the PhD’s and MD’s out there. Don’t let that stop you. I took on a commissioner in New York State, who tried to push the vaccines on my mother and my disabled brother, who is in a NYS group home. He could not debate me on the evidence, even though he was a pediatrician,he had to resort to giving me his opinion, and his advice without one bit to support it and even having to agree with me about not having evidence of long term safety and that the shots weren’t trialed against stopping transmission. The idiot told me he had both his pregnant daughters take the shots. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that there was an 83 percent increase in first trimester miscarriages in the vaccine arm than the placebo group. When have we ever told pregnant women to take something that had not been well studied that didn’t have a ton of evidence behind it?! What happened to even common sense? That doesn’t need an ability to understand the intricacies of the science. By the way, both mom and my brother keep high vitamin D levels and were directly exposed to people with Covid who had been vaccinated and even had to be hospitalized but not my brother nor my mother. My brother didn’t even get sick, not once and he was exposed a lot.
I've actually worked in tech for a long time and have worked with large data sets and data science, and I can readily decode such studies and papers better. Yet I'm humbled by my experience over the decades plowing into fields that I've 'read my way to expertise' in, only to later find out how badly I'd been rolled by certain 'studies'. What I've found that is without the grounding in the essentials of a given field, it's really hard to put any data in context.
Perhaps you are misunderstanding me? I'm not at all reluctant to utterly reject most of public health in the U.S. today. COVID and the VAX are crimes against humanity, nothing less. People should be swinging from gallows in my mind. I've turned down meds due to my own research etc. I'm just sharing that at some basic level I have a bit of uncertainty about my views on all this. Cuz really, all I'm doing is trusting a different set of experts. I can appreciate that and that because this isn’t your field there is that uncertainty and you want to be that certain. Having worked in nursing and advocacy for my severely disabled brother I have had to go against people in power, people who know how to play their game when I am a neophyte to their system, their institutions. I had to drag out studies that I had some but not complete comprehension in to challenge doctors. I expected them to show me where I was wrong. They couldn’t. They count on us to defer because they can’t back up their opinions by showing the flaws in the studies presented to them. If they can’t do it then I know I don’t have to have the last piece of the puzzle. I have enough to know. That’s my point. I would love to understand the research to the extent that I can call out all the flaws whether statistically or design or computational but that would take deep study and years for me but I can rely on what I know has been changed to make this whole Covid disaster work for the promoters of this crisis. So many policies, practices and standards were changed, no studies needed to know that, that normally would have been left in place that you have to know this was very wrong. Something as simple as since when do we ever tell pregnant women to take an experimental drug should send major red flags up everywhere. Since when would we say give experimental drugs to children, to babies? OMG no!!!! Common sense can be our guide without knowing the intricacies of the studies. If we see a dead person in front of us do we need a study to agree they are dead?!
