Of course they did, because Covid skepticism tends to fall along political lines. Your larger question, whether it was done in order to influence the election…it certainly seems plausible. We know almost none of this was done in the interests of actual public health.
imho, 'tends to' might be a little strong. I think most of the political divide has been a media construct that helped push some into one camp or the other, even if they might have been fence-sitters. I know many political conservatives that bought the covid narrative hook, line & sinker. I used to consider myself a liberal but was red-pilled 15 yrs ago. I didn't really change; the meaning of 'liberal' did. conservative values used to favor big business & capitalism; not so much any more. but the media made expressing ANY middle ground, nearly impossible.
