End the Senior Executive Service.

This would be a good move - exactly addresses the fears I had when seeing how many stodgy SES were in HHS.

Federal employees have long been underworked, overpaid and at the same time were never at risk of being terminated. Private sector employees, whose taxes fund the public sector are at the opposite end of the compensation and risk of job loss spectrum. Seems like this move is long overdue. Prepare for many tears 😭. Resist being sympathetic.

If I do not align myself with the directives of my administration on my job- I will be fired. Why should it be any different for federal employees? In Trump's last term, his directives were sabotaged and ignored, hindering his overall effectiveness- thus ignoring the will of the people. Biden's policies contribute to the rot of the government. I have worked in a union system in public service (education) , bad apples never get fired unless they do something terrible. This destroys the morale of those working hard to serve and sucks up public money.

All federal employees can be fired. The problem, as it is in education, is that bosses won't do the documentation needed to fire them. But good principals in good schools, have a good staff. because the good principal makes the staff accountable and removes bad teachers when necessary. I do know federal employees who have made sure to fire staff that was not performing. But it is rare and the one I know personally is specifically brought into positions because he is so good at cleaning house and every boss in his department has known that. He's only had to it four times, but that is four times another boss would not do the steps... just like bad principals. SES has their place. As do some government employees. How many and in what positions remains to be seen as this shakeup continues.

Now can they do away with the Obama era scoring system. I get wanting to give veterans a chance but this has really hurt people with the right experience for positions from even getting a chance to interview. If a veteran applies they automatically get an interview whether or not they are qualified and this kicks candidates out of the queue who may actually be a fit for the position. Ask me how I know.

If veterans have enjoyed that advantage, just imagine the headstart given based on pigmentation or sexual delusions ....
