I was looking for a comprehensive summary of this incident but a week ago. Thank you.
I was trying to juxtapose Wakefiled's presser and claim with another famous science by press moment in Dr. Gallo's announcement of HIV causing Aids. I also think its worth laying out side-by-side the various evidence of correlation and potential causation of HIV to Aids, HPV to Cervical Cancer, the growing Vaccine Schedule to Autism, and Aluminum in Alzheimer's as well as Autism. I'd love for a better writer to do the job.
The price paid to be a medical dissident is catastrophic. I hope one day Dr. Wakefield's name will be cleared once and for all and charges brought against the perpetrators of this injustice as well as full compensation not only to Dr. Wakefield but all the parents and children who suffered at the hands of big pharma and the medical establishment and who continue to suffer due to the malinformation about vaccines deliberately propagated to force these diabolical cocktails on innocent children.

Brian Deer seems to have had it in for Andy Wakefield and I remember there was an expert independent witness to go over all the evidence, and he exonerated Andy as well.
Currently and unfortunately all of this is moot! However, within the next year or so when they can no longer bury the number of deaths and injuries from these injections - the truth will prevail. It's getting to the point, no one doesn't know someone who has died and or been injured whether they admit it or not, although most certainly and absolutely suspect it.! I personally know over 20 people who've died or been injured! Dead from turbo cancer or so many sudden and massive strokes and/or heart attacks! They all keep saying the exact same thing s/he was FINE and then all of a sudden out of the clear blue this happened - and we can't figure out why?
Secondly when 1 in 37 children are now autistic opposed to past generations you can bet your ass people are worried! Same thing holds true - there isn't anyone that now doesn't know someone with an autistic child! The only one advocating childhood vaccines are doctors and after Covid how many parents won't put an ounce of credence in anything they have to say especially given the fact the massive pay-offs from the pharmaceutical industry.
Trust is a funny thing - it's the very one thing that can't be repaired!
As I stated on another Substack those who're in vehement denial regarding the correlation are the ones riddled with insurmountable and unrelenting guilt knowing they inflicted this on their own child. They knew and were well aware of the risks and yet they ignored them! You also have to wonder just how many family members said the same! So the blame is just as bad as the guilt hence the massive denial! What's worse is how they are inflicting the same on other innocent children rather than the parents who are advocates against vaccines never wanting another child to be harmed!
Thank you for retelling the truth. This is a very important exercise and should be done often. This case cannot be allowed to fade into oblivion or medical freedom will fade as well.
Wonder who paid Brian Deer to write articles to destroy Andy Wakefield? It’s well established that Big Pharma has many allies who do the dirty work. This is a long and sordid history, not just with vaccines. A doctor I worked with at a hospital in western Maryland was harassed for taking her patients off Avandia when she noticed heart problems. I believe it was Glaxo. They did their utmost to discredit her.
Public Health authorities are increasingly resorting to censoring inconvenient information, and propagandizing “authorized” information, rather than providing better data in a transparent way.
Pfizer has been forced to pay tens of billions in fines and damages for previous incidents involving unsafe medicines that caused severe adverse reactions, including untold numbers of deaths.

So far (with notable exceptions) I haven’t seen the greater functional medicine community set its teeth into this particular travesty (or the safety and effectiveness of vaccines in general). It’s a mystery to me because “we” see what’s wrong with medicine in so many ways, but not this particular issue.
I hope that when more FM practitioner starts to really understand, things will start happening.

I only wish it included a few additional facts: The charges against Dr. Walker-Smith were almost identical to the charges against Dr. Wakefield, and Dr. Walker-Smith also lost his medical license. However, Dr. Walker-Smith was able to appeal his loss of license and get his license back. Dr. Wakefield was not able to appeal because his malpractice insurance company refused to cover the tremendous expense of appeal.
Dr. Lyons-Weiler, I know that Dr. Wakefield followed up the original study with a series of studies to investigate whether, and how, the MMR vaccine was indeed triggering autism in children. (This was previous to Brian Deer's attack.) Could you publish an account of Dr. Wakefield's follow-up studies and their results?
