"Recovering Liberal" is a good way to describe myself. It was around the same time you mentioned, and then - of course, the 2016 election - where I was convinced that the Dem party (or at least those who hijacked it) was not for the common man. Nor women's and children's rights, nor minorities. Nor health. In my mind, what color you were or how you identified would matter not in the face of complete corporate control, and what that would bring, which the Dems seemed more aligned with. Little did I realize how much larger and global that beast really was...

I played the Powerball last night and lost. However, I'm sure the lottery system is completely trackable and verifiable, and if not, it's got to be a lot closer to the shit show we have in the voting system.

Bad Cat has had some really good articles on how to transform the system into something verifiable, independent, and secure.

I actually recovered in 2015 when our Governor Jerry Brown signed the forced vaccination bill, SB 277. As for election integrity, we simply don't have it, since nearly all votes are tabulated through proprietary software. Most voters do not know this, but blackboxvoting.org has been documenting this for more than a decade. And universal mail-in voting, an invitation for fraud, made the problem far worse. And Google's subtle mind-bending made it far worse yet. Not a chance in hell 81 million actual voters selected Joe Biden, who has put together by far the worst administration in my memory, and I can remember as far back as President Eisenhower.

I moved from CA to TN as I refuse to vaccinate my 4 year-old as mandated there, a form of authoritarianism I find dreadful.

The horrors of election denialism which will, most likely, end democracy and America itself I find to be a more existential threat to us all. As you align with a regressive authoritarian party that "values" misogyny, book-banning and a pro-Nazi white nationalism, I lose sight of rationalism at all. As we need to live in a post-rational world and you are pushing for a pre-rational one, I find some of your stances quite interesting.

I enjoy your microbiology however.

Part of the problem we’re having in America is definition of terms. People can mean completely different things when they use the words ‘left-wing’, ‘right-wing’, ‘Liberal’, etc.

Our country was founded on principles that now can be described as ‘Classical Liberalism, ‘Libertarian’, or Constitution Conservative’. Boy, does that make it hard to define anyone - are they ‘liberal’ or ‘conservative’ if they believe fervently in our Constitutional rights?

Robert Kennedy, Jr. dealt with this issue somewhat in his book, ‘A Letter to Liberals’. It was gratifying to me to read his (gentle) chiding of his fellow liberals on how authoritarian and intolerant they have become. He admonished them, saying, in effect, we liberals were the party who stood up for freedom of speech and personal rights and now we’re all about lockdowns, vilification, government overreach, intolerance toward other opinions, etc.

Let’s hope that this election marks the turning point to better discussions and a return to true Constitutional values!

This is amusing: I just got an email from the California Secretary of State informing me that today is election day, and my computer put it in the junk box!!!

As our creator inspired founding fathers knew, our [once] creator inspired constitution & nation was only designed for a Godley people! [Fact!] I.E. totally inappropriate for Godless free stuff Democrat's playing God! I.E. as happened to the Roman & Nazi empire!

Yes, I'm a recovering Liberal too. What changed? That's easy- the last 2 years. The never ending stream of lies by the Biden admin and their undying support of pharma. The collusion between government and media to sell those lies. Most of all, the destruction of our Constitutional rights by forcing Americans to choose between accepting a medical procedure against their will, or feeding their families.

Excellent article. Two editorial points:

1: "Fortune reported only 475 cases of potential voter fraud in stats that Biden won."

Probably a typo for states?

2: "The fact that Google uses “emphemerals” - suggested search terms that autofill while you’re typing your searches - to bias your thinking along the political spectrum (see psychologist Robert Epstein’s testimony before the United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution Tuesday, June 16, 2019 on this)."

Seems like there was supposed to be a second clause to this sentence?

Best always,

Mike

I recovered when I cast my vote for Jesse Ventura to govern the State of Minnesota. We're crazy here, it's like living in two different countries. PS, don't forget Big Ag, they're famous for their lies and manipulation of scientific data "as safe as table salt."

Hand counting of paper ballots should solve all problems of vote countig. Uf ll votes are paper ballots the count would be correct. It mostly is now paper ballots. Trump was OVERWHELMINGLY defeated in 2020. During his 4 year presidency he never polled over 44% approval. He was sure to lose.

I voted in person in Nov. 2020. So did 2 other members of my household.

In 2022, a group of people I know received the qualified voter files in order to do some door knocking for the upcoming election. They noticed that someone they knew was on the file, and it said that the person did not vote in 2020, but they verified with that person that they had voted. So they made a website on which one could search the QVF for one's own info. When I entered my info, it said that neither I nor the other two people in my household had voted in the presidential election in 2022.

I went and “voted”. A Dominion machine needed to scan my ballot twice before my vote was counted. This just started happening in my precinct which will overwhelmingly vote for health freedom and should see that McGovern looses his seat here. Will I be surprised if he holds on to his seat? Hardly. I wrote in a candidate for DA, I’m sure I can find my vote and see if it was correctly counted...

Credibility of Federal elections ended the minute vote counting stopped in swing states which were about to determine a presidential election (followed by blatant ballot box stuffing).

I absolutely agree with the "proof of citizenship ".

I voted today for the first time in the US as I became a naturalized citizen in August. I have, however, lived legally in this country for over 20 years and possessed a valid driver's license for all of those years. It likely would have been possible for me to vote given that I am originally from Canada and no one would have ever suspected that I was not eligible.

When I registered to vote this year, after becoming a citizen, I was never asked for proof of citizenship. And today when I voted, I was only asked for an ID. I showed my driver's license, which again, is not proof of citizenship.

There are too many ways that people can cheat. But requiring proof of citizenship can eliminate one.

The only problem with the receipt showing the results of your votes is that it destroys vote confidentiality. An important part of securing the vote is ensuring that absolutely no one can link specific votes to specific people.

A receipt showing that you voted would be fine.
