Bangladeshi Scammers Try to Hit with Sales of Email Lists of Attendees of a Major Upcoming Event
IPAK-EDU gathered the evidence, so you don't have to. Don't be fooled.
Email lists are the lifeblood of online initiatives. I’ve never sold or shared anyone’s email address, and never will.
Also, if you have not heard of it, RePlatform is exciting. I hope to participate.
So we were surprised to be solicited by a company I have never heard of, but which claimed to be working with RePlatform. The weird new company, Optima Global Solutions, contacted us with an offer of over 30,000 email addresses of people who have registered with RePlatform to attend a major upcoming event. No restrictions on use, and all opted in for sale and reuse! Over 30K! Too good to be true!
There were a few initial cues that tipped me off. I won’t list them. But I am I’m going to share the PO and the invoice (again, RePlatform is not this company!!!)
I called REPLATFORM who confirmed - yep, it’s a scam (like I needed confirmation).
So, heads up, and don’t take any wooden nickels! Hope to see you in March!
