ACTION ITEM - SHARE NEWS OF THE CALL FOR A GLOBAL BAN ON GAIN-OF-FUNCTION RESEARCH ON RESPIRATORY PATHOGENS
See my article special to The Kennedy Beacon.
SCIENTISTS AND DOCTORS are, as of today, calling for a universal ban on international gain-of-function (GOF) research on respiratory pathogens. The US government lifted a three-year moratorium on funding controversial research that involves genetically altering viruses in ways that could make them more contagious, more deadly, or both. However, there remain dire and well-founded concerns that such research could lead to the accidental release of modified viruses, which could spread quickly or be extremely virulent, increasing the toll of an outbreak.
In November 2022, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall and four of his Senate Republican colleagues demanded that the federal government implement a government-wide ban on all ongoing and new viral Gain-of-Function (GoF) and Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC) studies in the life sciences involving all enhanced pathogens of pandemic potential (ePPP) due to the current lack of research oversight, clear guidelines, and potential risks of outbreaks from laboratory accidents.
A single nation engaging in such a ban is insufficient. We are calling for a global ban - with steep consequences for any individual involved in the funding of, execution of, or knowingly hosting of such research in their facilities.
I first called for this ban this morning via The Kennedy Beacon. Dr. Peter McCullough, Dr. Sin Han Lee, and I are working on a petition that will be published soon. Please read and share the article on The Kennedy Beacon substack.
