The Evolution of Domestic Cats - Now Free IPAK-EDU Science Webinar Featuring Jonathan Losos
Acclaimed Evolutionary Biologist Jonathan Losos presented at our prestigious IPAK-EDU Director's Science Webinar. It was a blast.
Which traits of cats that you have known and love are special to domestic cats, and which are ancestral?
Who domesticated whom… humans or cats?
Which group of wild cats are most closely related to domesticated cats?
These are just a few of the interesting questions posed by Dr. Jonathan Losos of Washington University in St. Louis, and all are answered in his book, The Cat's Meow: How Cats Evolved from the Savanna to Your Sofa.
Jonathan, a Harvard-trained evolutionary biologist, has a history of studying the evolution of lizards, and studying the processes of evolution using E. coli with colleagues in a 30-year collaboration.
We were lucky and happy to spend time with him last evening a the IPAK-EDU Director’s Science Webinar where he shared a bit of the fruits of his deep dive into the origins of our feline friends. You’re invited to enjoy this Science Webinar for free. For the access point, send email to info@ipak-edu.org, subject line “Cat Evolution”. We’ll send you the link and password!
