My nation state is USA, Inc. My home state is California. Both my state and my nation are tending in a totalitarian direction. Independent is political affiliation. I rank my state as an 8/14. My nation as 8.5/14.

Some answers of No are shall we say subject to change in a few months as trends continue.

12/14. (nation and California both) All but #10 and #13. They won't get away with it, though. There are far fewer sheep now than before the 'Rona. The consent of the governed is wobblier than I have ever seen over my seven decades in this beautiful nation full of good people. Knowledge of the horror of this "vaccine'" program has become widespread, and thus the ability of the "public health" establishment to inflict further damage on the public is finished. They will never be punished, though. Congress, even if the Republicans retake it in November, is simply incapable of doing anything good for the nation. The President and Vice-President are simply the most incompetent (and downright nasty) pair we've ever seen in our 243-year history. We are a laughing stock in all the world for this reason. I am an unaffiliated voter. Having voted Democrat for decades, for seven years now, I vote Republican. The lesser of two evils.

Numbers 1-5 are expressly prohibited by Mexico's Constitution because all of the abuses mentioned: Freedom to Travel, Association, Opine, Work, Worship (or not) are all protected.

The Jalisco State Governor is more authoritarian than AMLO but the state's public is fed up with the pandemic BS and won't be held back.

Q2: State control of the press. State ___ Nation __. -- what I find interesting is that legacy media, which targets Dems & Independents, strongly pushes the Covid fear narrative, the deadly Covid "vaccines", and the "harms" of early treatment. Conservative media, otoh, is allowed to tell the truth, which is, 'skip the shots, get ivermectin.' And that is the same route Congress, and the wealthy, have chosen for themselves. So, the result is a selective reduction in the number of Dems / Ind, and a much redder America. I used to be a Dem ... until the party became a Jim Jones suicide cult.

The guy in the brown institue has a nice article, but he makes the exact same mistake as almost everyone else: he equates democracy and freedom.

Democracy as currently implemented is simply mob rule, or the dictatorship of the majority. It has nothing to do with freedom. The best recent examples are sh*t holes like canada, australia, new zealand, germany, NY, CA, to menion only a few places. All covid tyrany in these hell holes is supported by the majority. Absolutely no amount of democracy can solve this.

I don’t think a lot of people in the comments realize that what appears to be the denominator is actually the score for the nation. What appears to be the numerator is the score for the state.

California is the worst state in the nation for attempts at totalitarian control. This last year they had ten horrible bills in the legislature that if passed would have made California as lockdown restrictive as New Zealand or Australia. Fortunately people have fought back and pushed most of the bills into the drop but not dead zone. Gavin Newsom is a New World Order plant. He has no mind of his own and even when his better instincts should prevail he backs off for no reason, such as when he was going to veto the bill several years ago that took away medical exemptions to vaccines, then signed it. California is a test lab for the New World Order, the World Economic forum types. I don't know why so many of us stay to fight them, but we do.
